Korea wants Iraq to guarantee a stable supply of crude oil before it joins the U.S.-led sanctions against Iran.
The request was made by Korea's Foreign Minister Kim Sung-hwan during talks with the visiting Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari.
Kim also asked for Iraq's support for Korean businesses bidding for oil and natural gas development projects there.
According to a ministry official, Zebari expressed his gratitude for Korea's support in restructuring his country, and vowed to work towards securing the country's oil supply for Korea and expanding bilateral economic ties.
